Draw Rules
Local Draws Limited · Company No. 17322132 · 70 Marsland Road, Sale, England, M33 3HG
Version 1.0 · Effective 5 September 2026
The rules for every Local Draws draw: who can enter, both ways to enter, how a winner is chosen and how you can check that yourself, the claim window, verification, and prizes.
1.What these rules are
These are the rules for every Local Draws draw. They are part of your agreement with us and they bind you from the moment you enter a draw, whether you paid for that entry or posted it in for free.
They cover who can enter, how to enter by either route, how a Draw is put together, how the winner is chosen, how you can check that for yourself, how we tell the winner, the identity check, the seven day claim window, prizes, and what happens when something goes wrong.
They sit alongside our [Terms of Use](/legal/terms-of-use), which covers the website, your account, payment and refunds. Where these rules and the Terms of Use disagree about anything to do with a Draw, these rules apply. For everything else, the Terms of Use applies.
Each Draw also has its own page, which gives the prize, the price of an entry, the maximum number of entries, the date and time the Draw closes and any conditions attached to that particular prize. The Draw page is part of these rules for that Draw. Where it says something more specific than these rules, the Draw page applies to that Draw.
The Code we work to. Local Draws is a signatory to the Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators (opens on another website), published by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Several things in these rules are here because the Code asks for them, and we say so where that is the case. The measures we have in place under the Code are published at /legal/code-compliance.
2.Who runs the Draws
The promoter of every Local Draws draw is:
Local Draws Limited, company number 17322132, registered office 70 Marsland Road, Sale, England, M33 3HG.
Contact: hello@localdraws.com, or write to us at the registered address.
Where the prizes come from. Some prizes we buy ourselves. We pay for them in full, at the price anybody else would pay, and the business we buy them from has no involvement in the Draw. Other prizes are provided by businesses we work with, which we call Prize Partners.
Either way, we run the Draw. A Prize Partner is not the promoter and does not run the Draw. Neither is a business we have simply bought something from. We do.
Every Draw page tells you which kind it is, so before you enter you always know whether a business is taking part in the Draw or has only had something bought from it.
3.Who can enter
To enter a Local Draws draw you must:
- be aged 18 or over
- live in the United Kingdom
- hold a Local Draws account, in your own name
These are our rules. The 18 and over rule is also a commitment we have made under the Code, and we would apply it regardless.
You confirm both things yourself. When you create your account, you give us your date of birth and confirm that you live in the UK. If the date of birth you enter shows you are under 18, you cannot create an account. We do not check your address at that point. When you post a free entry, you confirm again that you are 18 or over and that you live in the UK.
That confirmation binds you. If it turns out not to be true, your entries are void.
We may ask you to prove it. We reserve the right to require proof of your age, your identity or where you live before we release a prize. In practice every winner goes through the identity check described at section 12.
If we find out someone is under 18. Their entries are void, everything they paid is refunded, their account and personal data are deleted apart from the entry and payment records we are legally required to keep, which we restrict so they are used only for that legal purpose, and if they had been drawn as a winner the prize is drawn again under section 13. This is also set out in the Privacy Policy at section 16.
4.Who cannot enter
People connected with Local Draws. Anyone who works for Local Draws Limited, including its directors, employees and contractors, and anyone living in the same household as one of them, cannot enter any Draw.
Anyone we have previously disqualified. If we have disqualified you from a Draw under section 13, you cannot enter again unless we tell you in writing that you may.
Staff of a business connected with a prize can enter. We have thought about this and decided not to exclude them, whether the prize was provided by a Prize Partner or bought by us from the business concerned. A Draw is decided at random by a process anyone can check, so somebody who works at the business behind a prize has no more influence over the result than anybody else.
5.How to enter: the paid route
The price. Each entry costs the amount shown on the Draw page. That is the price you pay; nothing is added at checkout.
How many you can buy. There is no limit on how many entries you may buy in a single Draw. That is a deliberate design choice, not an oversight. We control spending with a monthly limit that you set yourself, described in the Terms of Use at section 8, because a per-Draw cap does nothing about somebody spending too much across a dozen Draws in a week, and a monthly limit does.
When your entry counts. Your entry is placed when your payment is authorised and we confirm it. It appears in your account straight away and we email you a confirmation. If you do not see either, the entry was not placed.
When entries close. The closing date and time are on the Draw page. Entries placed after that moment do not go into the Draw. Entries also close early if the Draw reaches its maximum number of entries — see section 8.
What entering means. By entering you confirm you are 18 or over, live in the UK, and accept these rules and the Terms of Use in the versions in force at that moment.
6.How to enter free: no purchase necessary
This route is not a formality and it is not a lesser version of entering. It exists so that anybody can take part without paying, and we treat it exactly the same way as a paid entry.
The important sentence
Each free entry has exactly the same chance of winning as each paid entry.
Every single entry in a Draw, however it got there, has the same chance of being the one drawn. It does not say your overall chance is the same as somebody else's, because that depends on how many entries each of you holds, and you may only ever hold one free entry in a Draw.
A free entry also earns the same points as a paid entry in the same Draw. How points work is in the Points Terms.
How to do it
No purchase necessary. You can enter any Draw for free by post.
First, create your free account. Your postal entry gets linked to your account, so you need one before you post. It takes a few seconds and costs nothing.
What to write
- Your full name
- Your account email
- Draw: the name of the Draw you want to enter, exactly as it appears on its page
Post to
Local Draws
70 Marsland Road
Sale, England, M33 3HG
We'll add one free entry for this Draw to your account when your note arrives, and it must reach us before the Draw closes. One free entry per person, per Draw.
By posting an entry you confirm you're 18 or over, a UK resident, and accept the Draw Rules.
What it costs
Ordinary postage and nothing else. A first or second class stamp. You do not need recorded delivery, you do not need to enclose anything, and there is nothing to pay us at any point.
The deadline, and how to be safe
Your note has to physically reach us before the Draw closes. The date on the postmark does not count. If it arrives after the Draw has closed, it is too late.
We suggest posting at least 5 working days before the Draw closes. That is advice, not a rule — a note that arrives earlier than that is fine and a note that arrives on the last morning is fine too. It is here because the post is not always quick and we would rather you were not caught out.
Every Draw is open for at least 14 days, so there is always time to post one.
What happens when your note arrives
We record your entry and it appears in your account, normally within 2 working days of arriving. Your account is your confirmation.
We do not send a confirmation email for a postal entry. If the entry is in your account, it is in the Draw. If you posted a note and nothing has appeared after a few days, email hello@localdraws.com and we will look.
We destroy the paper within 30 days of recording your entry, and we do not keep a scan or photograph of it. Once your entry is recorded in your account, the piece of paper has done its job.
When a free entry does not work, and what we do about it
Four things go wrong with postal entries. Here is what happens in each case, including what we tell you, because an entry that quietly vanishes is worse than one that fails loudly.
1. The email address you wrote does not match any account. We email that address once, explain that a free entry needs an account, and invite you to create one. If you create the account before the Draw closes, we add your entry. If the Draw closes before the account exists, the entry is void. If the email address does not work at all, the entry is void and we destroy the paper.
2. Your note reaches us after the Draw has closed, or after it reached its maximum. The entry is void. It is not carried over into another Draw. We email you to tell you, so you know what happened rather than watching an account that will never update. Please do enter the next one.
3. Your note is unclear, incomplete, or does not say which Draw you want. If there is a usable email address or name on it, we contact you once and ask. If there is not, the entry is void and we destroy the paper. Where a note does not name a Draw, we will not guess, even if you have only ever entered in one city and there is only one Draw open there. Putting you into a Draw you did not choose is not a favour.
4. You send more than one note for the same Draw. The first valid note counts. The rest are void, and we do not refund postage. Sending repeated or bulk notes for one Draw is treated as abuse of the free route under section 7 and the Terms of Use section 10, and can mean disqualification.
7.Entry limits and restrictions
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Paid entries per person, per Draw | No limit |
| Free entries per person, per Draw | One |
| Accounts per person | One |
Entries are personal to you. You may not sell, give away, swap or transfer an entry, and you may not hold one for somebody else. An entry must be for your own benefit.
No third party entry services. Do not use an agent, a concierge service, or any business that offers to enter Draws on your behalf. Entries placed that way are void.
No syndicates. Do not enter as part of a group, pool or syndicate. If you win, you win, and you are the person we verify and the person we supply the prize to.
No automated entry. No scripts, bots, macros or bulk entry tools. Every entry must be made by you.
If you break these rules, the entries concerned are void and refunded, and we may disqualify you from the Draw and close your account under the Terms of Use section 6.
8.How a Draw is put together
Every Draw page shows, before you enter:
- whether it is a city Draw or a Draw open across the UK
- what the prize is, and what it is worth
- the price of an entry
- the maximum number of entries in the Draw
- the date and time the Draw opens and closes
- any conditions attached to that particular prize
The maximum tells you what your chance can be. If a Draw has a maximum of 200 entries, no entry in it can ever have a chance smaller than one in 200. We publish the maximum for exactly that reason, and the Code asks us to. We do not publish how many entries have been taken so far as a live count of what other people are doing.
Every Draw is open for at least 14 days. This is a Code commitment. It also gives the free postal route real time to work.
When a Draw reaches its maximum, entries close for both routes and no further entries are accepted, paid or postal. If a Draw reaches its maximum more than one day before the published closing date, the Draw takes place at 6 pm UK time on the day after the maximum is reached, rather than at the originally published date and time. If the Draw reaches its maximum on the day before the published closing date, or on the closing date itself, it takes place at the date and time already published.
If a Draw does not fill
A Draw runs. Always.
- There is no minimum. If a Draw closes with three entries in it, one of those three wins the prize
- We do not extend a Draw because it is filling slowly
- We do not cancel a Draw because too few people entered
- We do not swap in a smaller prize because too few people entered
This is a Code commitment and it is also just how we want to run this. The risk that a Draw does not fill is ours, not yours. If you entered a Draw with a £900 prize and eleven other people did too, one of you is getting a £900 prize.
9.How the winner is chosen
Prizes are awarded in accordance with the laws of chance.
The winner is chosen at random. When a Draw closes, our system selects one entry at random from every eligible entry in that Draw, using a cryptographically secure random process. Every eligible entry has an equal chance of winning each available prize, whether it was paid for or posted in.
There is no skill in a Local Draws draw. There is no question to answer, no tiebreaker, nothing to guess and nothing to get right. Nothing you do, and nothing about you, changes your chance of being picked.
An eligible entry is one that was validly placed before the Draw closed, on an account that meets section 3, and that has not been voided under these rules.
When it happens. As soon as reasonably practicable after the Draw closes, and normally within one working day.
No person picks the winner, and no person can influence which entry is selected. What a person does do is review a failed identity check before any decision is taken about a prize — see section 12.
Every Draw is separate. Entering one Draw does not affect another, and losing one does not improve your chance in the next.
10.How you can check a Draw was fair
We publish enough information for anyone to reproduce the result of any Draw and confirm we did not choose the winner. You do not have to trust us on this and you should not have to.
Here is how it works, in order. The order is the whole point.
1. Before entries close, we publish a fingerprint of the random seed. A seed is the number the selection is built from. A fingerprint, technically a hash, is a short string that could only have come from that exact seed, and from which the seed itself cannot be worked out. So we are committing to a number in advance, publicly, without revealing it.
2. The Draw runs, using that seed and the published method.
3. Afterwards we publish the seed itself, and the method. Anyone can then check two things: that the seed we revealed produces the fingerprint we published before entries closed, and that running the published method on that seed picks the entry we say it picked.
Why the sequence matters. Publishing a seed only after a Draw proves nothing, because a seed chosen after the result is known can be made to say anything. The commitment has to come first, while nobody, including us, knows the outcome. That is what makes it worth publishing.
Every redraw gets its own fingerprint, published before that redraw runs. If a prize has to be drawn again under section 13, we do not reuse the original commitment. A redraw with no advance commitment would be exactly the unverifiable thing this section exists to avoid.
Where to find it. On the page of every Draw, after it has closed, alongside the result.
You are welcome to check. Checking a Draw is not interference and nothing in the Terms of Use section 10 prevents it. That clause is about attempts to influence a Draw, which is a different thing entirely.
11.Telling the winner, and the seven day claim window
How we contact you. By email, to the address on your account. Keep it current — this is the message you do not want to miss.
You have 7 days to respond. The seven days runs from the moment we send the first email.
We will remind you. We send at least one reminder before the window closes, and we will not let a claim window expire without having tried more than once.
What we need from you. Confirmation that you want the prize, the city you are based in, and completion of the identity check at section 12. If the prize needs anything else, for example dates for a booking, we will tell you at that point.
Why we ask for your city. We publish winners as a first name and a city, which section 15 explains. We may also have to give the Advertising Standards Authority the county of a major prizewinner if a Draw is challenged, and that duty applies even where you have asked us not to be named. So we ask every winner for it, whether or not you want to be named. We ask for a city, never an address.
If you do not respond within 7 days, the position is at section 13. In short: the prize is drawn again. We do not do that quietly and we do not do it on the seventh day without having chased you.
If you need longer, tell us. If you are away, ill, or simply need more time, email us and we will extend the window. The seven days is there to keep prizes moving, not to catch you out.
12.Verification: checking who you are
Every winner is verified before a prize is released. Not just large prizes. Every one.
What it involves. The check is carried out for us by Didit Identity Spain, S.L., an identity verification provider. You submit an identity document, take a selfie and complete a short step confirming a real person is present. Didit returns a pass or fail to us.
We ask your permission first, separately. Before anything is sent to Didit, we ask you to agree to the check in a box of its own, which is never ticked for you and is not bundled in with accepting these rules.
What we receive. A pass or fail, and a short note of the decision. We never receive or store your identity document, your selfie or your facial measurements.
A person reviews every failed check. No prize is withheld by an automated system on its own. If a check fails, we tell you, a person looks at it, and you can give us your account of what happened before anything is decided.
Running out of time is not a failure. If your verification link expires, or you start the check and do not finish it, we do not treat that as a failed check. We will remind you and give you more time.
If you refuse the check, or withdraw your agreement. We cannot confirm you are eligible, so we cannot release the prize. We refund what you paid for the winning entry and the prize is drawn again. You are not out of pocket, your account is unaffected, and you can carry on entering Draws.
If you cannot complete the check for a reason outside your control, tell us. We will find another way to satisfy ourselves who you are wherever we reasonably can.
If you win again. Once you have passed a check we record that you passed, and we will not ask you to do it again for 12 months.
What happens to your data in all of this is in the Privacy Policy at sections 7, 11, 12 and 15. We do not repeat it here.
13.Disqualification, and drawing again
When we disqualify an entry or a winner
- the entry, or the account, does not meet section 3
- the entrant is under 18
- the rules at section 7 were broken, including transfer, syndicates, agents or automated entry
- the free route was abused, including repeated or bulk postal entries
- we were given false information
- there was fraud, or an attempt at it
Who decides
A person decides. Never a system on its own. A named member of the Local Draws team makes the decision, records the reasons, and is accountable for it. That applies to a failed identity check just as much as to anything else.
You can challenge it
If we disqualify you, we tell you, we tell you why, and we tell you how to challenge it. You can reply and give us your side, and a person will consider it properly before the decision becomes final. If a prize is involved, we do not release it to anybody else while your challenge is open.
If you are not satisfied after that, use the complaints route at section 18.
How a redraw works
A prize is drawn again if the winner is disqualified, declines the prize, does not respond inside the claim window, or does not complete the identity check.
A redraw is a fresh random selection from every remaining eligible entry in that Draw. The disqualified entry is removed; everything else stands. A new fingerprint is published before the redraw runs, exactly as in section 10.
We keep drawing until the prize is claimed. There is no limit on the number of redraws, and a prize is never taken off the table because nobody claimed it.
Each new winner gets a full seven day claim window and the same reminders.
14.Prizes
What the prize is is on the Draw page, and so is what it is worth. We record that value before the Draw opens, so it is never something that gets argued about afterwards.
What "what it is worth" means. It is the price you would pay for the same thing yourself — the face value of a voucher, or the normal price of the meal, the stay or the experience. Where we buy a prize we sometimes pay less than that, because we buy ahead or in quantity. What we publish is what the prize is worth to you, not what it cost us. We keep the invoice, contract or booking reference behind every prize, so we can show our working if anybody asks. Where a Prize Partner provides a prize, we agree the value with them and record it the same way.
Prizes are digital vouchers and in-person experiences. A meal, a stay, a match, a treatment, a voucher code. If we run Draws for physical items that have to be posted to you, we may request a postal address.
Prizes we buy ourselves
We bought it, and nobody else is involved. Where the Draw page says we bought the prize, we bought it as an ordinary customer, at the price anybody else would pay. The business named on the Draw page has not provided the prize, has not sponsored, endorsed or approved the Draw, and has no involvement in it of any kind. We name it only so you know what the prize is and where you can use it. We are not connected to that business, it has not agreed anything with us, and it is not responsible to you for anything. We are.
What happens when you claim. We send you the voucher, the code or the booking details directly. We do not pass your name, your email address or anything else about you to the business the prize is used at. As far as that business is concerned you are an ordinary customer using an ordinary voucher, and it is never told that a prize draw was involved.
If something goes wrong, come to us. There is no partner in the middle, so everything about the prize is ours to sort out. If a voucher is refused, a code does not work, a business will not honour it or has closed — tell us. The rest of this section sets out what we do, and the short version is that you get the prize or something worth at least as much.
Prizes provided by a Prize Partner
Who supplies it. The Prize Partner. Once you have claimed, we pass them your full name and email address — not your phone number, not your address, not your payment details, not what else you have entered.
Why they need it. Two reasons. So they can arrange the prize with you directly if required, and so they can check that the person turning up to use it is the person who won it.
We do not send them anything else unless a particular prize genuinely cannot be arranged without it. If that ever applies, we agree it with the partner in writing first, and we tell you before we send it. That is in the Privacy Policy at section 9.
There is no cash alternative
Prizes are prizes. We do not offer cash instead, on any Draw. What is on the Draw page is what you win.
If your details do not match at the venue. A married name, a booking made by somebody on your behalf, a shortened first name — all perfectly normal.
Where the prize came from a Prize Partner, they will not turn you away. They contact us, we confirm it, and you carry on.
Where we bought the prize, the business has no arrangement with us and we cannot promise you how it will handle a query, so the promise here is ours instead. Contact us and we will sort it out — by dealing with the business, by reissuing the prize, or by replacing it with one of equal or greater value. You will not lose a prize you have won because a name did not match.
Other things about prizes
Prizes are personal to you. You cannot sell a prize, or pass it to somebody else.
How far we can enforce that, stated honestly. We verify who you are before we release anything, and we issue the prize to you and to nobody else. Where a Prize Partner is involved, they check the name at the venue as well. Where we have bought a voucher or a code, our control ends when we hand it to you — a code is a code, and a business accepting one has no way of knowing whose it was. The rule still stands, and selling or trading a prize is a breach of these rules that we can act on under section 13. We would rather tell you where the control ends than imply one we do not have.
If you cannot use your prize, tell us as soon as you know. We will do what we reasonably can. Depending on the prize that may mean moving a date, extending or reissuing a voucher, rebooking, asking a Prize Partner for more time, or in some cases letting somebody else use it in your place. Come to us early. If you leave it until the end of your redemption window there may be nothing anybody can do.
A prize that is not used before it expires is gone. The dates, the blackout dates and the booking conditions are all on the Draw page before you enter, and your redemption window is set out when you claim. If the prize was there and available and you did not use it in time, we cannot give you something else instead.
If the prize was never really available to you, that is different. If there was no workable date inside your redemption window, or a voucher was refused, or the prize turns out to be materially different from what the Draw page described — whatever the reason, and whoever the prize came from — that is on us and not on you. Tell us and we will put it right, with a prize of equal or greater value if it comes to that.
Booking, dates and expiry. Some prizes have to be used by a date, or booked in advance, or are not available on particular days. Anything like that is on the Draw page before you enter. If it is not on the Draw page, it does not apply to you.
Tax. You will not have to pay tax on the prize as a UK individual receiving a prize from a free entry Draw. If your own circumstances mean anything is due, that is for you. We do not give tax advice.
If we have to substitute a prize. If the exact prize becomes unavailable for a reason outside our control, we will offer you a substitute of equal or greater value.
If a prize cannot be provided
We cover it. If for any reason we cannot provide the prize you have won, that is our problem, not yours. You get a substitute of equal or greater value.
That covers every case: a business closing, a voucher refused, a code that does not work, a Prize Partner pulling out, a booking that cannot be honoured, or anything else. It makes no difference whether we bought the prize or a partner provided it, and it makes no difference whose fault it was. The promise is ours, and it does not depend on anybody else keeping theirs.
15.Naming winners
We publish your first name and your city unless you ask us not to.
What we publish. Your first name and your city only. For example, "Sarah, Manchester". We never publish your surname, your address, your email address, your phone number or a photograph of you.
When. Once you have claimed your prize and passed the identity check, and never before. Nothing goes up while we are still waiting to hear from you.
Where. On the Local Draws website and on our social media.
If you would rather we did not name you, tell us. Email hello@localdraws.com, either before you claim or at any time after. If it is already up, we take it down. It makes no difference to your prize — you get it in full, exactly the same, and you do not have to give us a reason.
Telling us covers that Draw. If you win another Draw later and would rather not be named that time either, tell us again.
Draws where the winner asked not to be named. We still publish that the Draw ran, what the prize was and, where the Draw was a city Draw, which city. Showing that our Draws are real and fairly run does not require us to name anybody.
Prize Partners. Where a prize was provided by a Prize Partner, that partner may want to announce that its prize was won. They cannot name you unless you have specifically agreed to that partner naming you. We ask you about the partner separately rather than treating one yes as covering everything, and if you say no, that is final — we will not go back to you on their behalf. Where we bought the prize ourselves this never arises, because the business the prize is used at is not told who won, or that a Draw took place at all.
One thing we have to tell you about, because the advertising rules require it
The UK advertising rules require a promoter to be able to show that its promotions are run properly.
If a Draw is challenged, we may have to give the Advertising Standards Authority the surname and county of a major prizewinner. That applies even if you asked us not to publish anything. We cannot contract out of it and we are telling you now, before you enter, rather than when it happens.
What we will do. We will only give the ASA what it actually asks for, we will tell you that we have done it, and we will not publish it ourselves.
You can ask us to publish less than the above, or nothing at all, and we will. The ASA obligation is the one exception and it is not a publication — it is a disclosure to a regulator that has asked.
16.Cancelling or changing a Draw
We will not cancel a Draw because too few people entered. See section 8. That is the case we are most often asked about and the answer is no.
When we might cancel or change a Draw:
- a technical failure means the Draw cannot be run fairly
- the prize becomes impossible to provide and we cannot substitute one of equal or greater value
- we are required to by law, or by a regulator
- something outside our reasonable control makes running the Draw impossible
What happens if we do. We publish it on the Draw page and email everyone who entered, explaining what happened. Every paid entry is refunded in full. Free entrants have nothing to refund, because they paid nothing.
Changing a Draw while it is open. If we have to correct something on a Draw page — a wrong date, a mistyped prize detail — we will correct it, say clearly that we have, and email everyone who has already entered. If a correction materially changes what you entered, you can withdraw your entry and be refunded. If a fault on our side stopped people entering, we may extend the closing time to give back the time lost, and we will say publicly that we have and why. That is in the Terms of Use at section 13.
17.Errors, technical failures, and things outside our control
If something goes wrong with a Draw, we will say so. We would rather tell you about a fault than hope you do not notice.
Where a mistake is ours and affects the result, we will put it right. Depending on what happened that may mean re-running the Draw with a fresh published commitment under section 10, or refunding affected entries, or both. We will explain which and why.
Where an entry is lost or corrupted through a fault on our side, we will restore it if we can and refund it if we cannot.
Things outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of the internet, a supplier, the postal service, or an act of government, may delay a Draw or a prize. If that happens we will tell you what is going on and what we are doing about it. It does not affect your right to a refund where an entry could not be placed or a Draw could not be run.
A misprint does not create a prize. If a Draw page shows a prize or a value that is obviously wrong, we are not obliged to award the wrong one. We will correct it and tell everyone who has entered, and you can withdraw your entry and be refunded under section 16.
18.Complaints about a Draw
Tell us. Email hello@localdraws.com with the Draw, what happened and what you would like us to do. Or write to Complaints, Local Draws Limited, 70 Marsland Road, Sale, M33 3HG.
| What | By when |
|---|---|
| We acknowledge your complaint | within 5 working days |
| We give you a full answer | within 4 weeks |
Both periods run from the day we receive your complaint. The acknowledgement is inside the four weeks, not on top of it. If we need longer, we will tell you before the four weeks is up, say why, and give you a date.
What happens to the prize while a complaint is open. If your complaint is about who won a Draw, or about whether a Draw ran properly, we will not release that prize to anybody until the complaint is resolved, and we will tell everyone affected that we are holding it and why.
If you are not happy with our answer, reply and say so, and tell us what you think we got wrong. We will look at the complaint again, against the record of the Draw and anything new you have told us, and give you a final answer.
If you are still not happy after our final answer, you can take the matter to the courts under section 20. If your complaint is about your personal data, you can also raise it with the Information Commissioner's Office at any time — the Privacy Policy explains how at section 19.
None of this affects your legal rights, and you do not have to complain to us first.
19.Your personal data
Everything about what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what rights you have is in our Privacy Policy.
Three parts of it come up most often here: section 7 on the identity check, section 8 on naming winners, and section 9 on what we share to fulfil a prize. We do not repeat any of it, deliberately.
20.Which law applies
These rules are governed by the law of England and Wales.
You can bring proceedings about them in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your own courts, and you keep the benefit of any rules of your local law that cannot be contracted out of.
21.Changes to these rules
We may change these rules. If we do, we publish the new version here with a new version number and date, and for any change that materially affects you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
An entry is governed by the version of these rules that was in force when you placed it. A change we make later cannot alter the deal on a Draw you have already entered. That is why every version is dated, and why we keep the old ones.
If you would like to see the version that applied to a Draw you entered, ask us and we will send it to you.
These terms apply from the effective date above. Anything marked “not available yet” is something we have committed to and have not finished building; that commitment takes effect for you when the feature does. We keep every published version — ask us for the one that applied to a draw you entered.
