Local Draws

Responsible play

Entering a draw should be a small, enjoyable thing. This page covers the tools that keep it that way, and where to go if money is becoming difficult.

Set your own monthly limit

You set a monthly limit on what you can spend with Local Draws. It applies across every draw in every city, not to one draw at a time.

You start with no limit. After your first entry we invite you to set one, and you can set or change it whenever you like.

You can set it to £0. That is a real option, not a technicality. With £0 set you cannot buy entries at all — and you can still enter any draw for free by post, exactly as before.

One rule is worth knowing before you set it:

  • Lowering a limit takes effect immediately.
  • Raising a limit takes 24 hours.

A limit you can raise in the moment is not a limit. The delay is the point of it.

Credit cards

Credit card spending is capped at £250 per calendar month, per person.

Points

You earn points on entries. Three things about them belong on this page.

They buy nothing. There's nothing to spend them on yet — we'll tell you when there is. They are not money and they do not buy or discount entries.

A free postal entry earns the same as a paid one. Entering for free costs you nothing and earns you exactly what paying would have.

They do not expire. Nothing about points runs out, counts down, or gives you a reason to enter today rather than next week.

Taking a break

Three options, and you choose how far you want to go.

Pause. Stop your account for a few days, or longer.

Suspend. A minimum of six months. It cannot be lifted early, and it stops all marketing from us. If you want a decision that holds, this is the one that holds.

Close. Permanently, at any time.

What we watch for

From day one we look for signs that entering has stopped being enjoyable for someone. How often an account reaches its limit. A sudden change in how much or how often someone enters. Repeated changes of payment method.

Where we see something, we act proportionately — which usually means getting in touch rather than doing anything to an account.

We would rather have an awkward conversation than take money from someone who is struggling.

You can always ask us to stop

Email hello@localdraws.com and ask us for a limit, a pause, a suspension or a closure. You do not need to give a reason.

If money is becoming difficult

These organisations are independent of us.

Your spending controls are set out in full in our Terms of Use.
