Local Draws runs prize draws in UK cities. We are starting in Manchester — other cities have pages, and you can add your name to hear when one opens, but Manchester is the only city running draws today.

What we are trying to do

Most prize draws are national, and the prizes feel it. You enter, and what is on offer is a car you did not need or a holiday you cannot take.

Ours start with somewhere real. A restaurant, a hotel, a venue — a place with an address, that people already know, where the prize is something you would actually use.

Anyone in the UK can enter any draw. Most people will enter draws in the city they know, which is rather the point — but nothing stops you entering one somewhere else.

Every draw also takes free entries by post, and a free entry has exactly the same chance of winning as a paid one.

Where the prizes come from

There are two kinds of draw, and every draw page says which one it is.

Some prizes we buy. We go to the business as an ordinary customer and pay what anyone else would pay. The business is not involved and has not agreed to anything. We name it because the winner needs to know where to redeem the prize, and we say on the page that it has not provided or endorsed it.

Some prizes come from a Prize Partner. That is a business which knows about the draw and has agreed to take part. It might have donated the prize, discounted it, or sold it to us at full price. What makes it a partner is that it knew and agreed, not what it charged.

We are careful about this distinction because it is an easy one to blur, and blurring it would mean putting words in the mouths of businesses that never said them.
