1.What these terms cover

These terms cover the Local Draws points scheme: how you earn points, what they are, and how we may change or end the scheme.

They form part of our [Terms of Use](/legal/terms-of-use), which brings them in at section 7. The Draw Rules govern the draws themselves and nothing here changes them.

There is nothing to spend points on yet. They add up in your account and we will tell you when there is something to do with them. Everything below describes how they accumulate, not how they are used, because at the moment they are not used for anything.

2.How you earn points

You earn points when you enter a draw. Two points for every £1 you spend. We round to the nearest whole point.

A free postal entry earns the same as a paid one. It is credited at that draw's entry price, so a free entry in a £2.50 draw earns exactly what a bought entry in that same draw earns. The chance is the same, and now the points are too.

You do not earn points for winning. The prize is the prize.

Points are recorded as a list of what you earned and when, not as a single running total, so we can always show you where a figure came from.

3.Inviting someone

There is a referral code in your account. If somebody uses it when they sign up, you earn 25 points once they have made their first paid entry — up to ten people a month.

They are not charged anything for using it, and they do not have to do anything beyond entering their first paid draw in the ordinary way.

We do not email anybody on your behalf. You share your code however you like.

We cannot promise every code is used by a different real person. We check what we reasonably can, and we may withhold points where we think a code has been misused.

Inviting somebody tells them nothing about you, and tells you very little about them. You will see your points go up. We do not tell you who caused it or when they entered.

4.What points are not

Points are not money and they are not property. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and give you no right, title or interest of any kind. They cannot be transferred, sold, assigned or given away.

They do not buy or discount entries. Not today, and not until we say otherwise and explain how.

They do not expire. Nothing runs out and nothing counts down.

They belong to your account. If you close your account, your points go with it.

5.When points go

If an entry is voided, the points it earned go with it. That covers a refund, a payment reversed by your bank, and a draw we cancel. Your points always reflect the entries you actually hold.

While your account is paused or suspended you cannot enter draws, so you will not earn points. Points you had already earned are unaffected.

Points you earned for inviting somebody stay yours. If that person later closes their account, you keep the points. You did what the scheme asked.

6.Changing or ending the points scheme

We may change how points are earned, and we may stop points being earned altogether. We would rather say that plainly than leave you to discover it. Either way we will tell you at least 30 days beforehand, by email and on the site.

Any change applies from the day it takes effect, and never backwards. Points you have already earned are not recalculated. If we reduce what an entry earns, or stop points being earned at all, everything you earned before that day stays exactly as it was.

We will not take away points you have already earned. If by then there is something to spend them on, you keep at least three months from the day we close the scheme to use them, and we will tell you the date.

7.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will publish the new version here and change the version number and the date at the top. Where a change affects how points are earned, or ends the scheme, section 6 applies and we will give you the notice it describes.
